Comp II: Literature Review: Free eBook websites

Free eBook Websites

  • Project Guttenberg: A volunteer effort to digitize and archive cultural works, to "encourage the creation and distribution of eBooks".
  • Google Books: A Google Book Search works just like web search. Try a search on Google Books or on Google.com. When your search finds a book with content that contains a match for your search terms, the search results include links to that book. Note that the entire book will only be available if the book is out of copyright--or if the publisher has given permission, you'll be able to see a preview of the book, and in some cases the entire text. If it's in the public domain, you're free to download a PDF copy.
  • Literature.orgOn this site you will find the full and unabridged texts of classic works of English literature. Fiction from authors like Lewis Carroll, the Bronte sisters (Anne, Charlotte and Emily), Jack London, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens and many others, and classic scientific works from Charles Darwin and Rene Descartes.
  • Open Library: A project of the Internet ArchiveOpen Library is an open, editable library catalog, building towards a web page for every book ever published.
  • PublicLiterature.orgThis website has 2 major features. It is separated into a blog, and classic books (these books can be read in full online).
